Mining doesn't happen in isolation — it happens in relationship with communities, governments, First Nations, and regulators, often under pressure and always under scrutiny. This session is a chance to reflect on why genuine collaboration, not just engagement, tends to be what carries an operation through its hardest moments.

 Over close to 30 years working in permitting, regulatory strategy, and Indigenous relations across the Yukon and BC, I've had the chance to be part of some collaborative processes I'm proud of — including efforts alongside First Nation partners and governments and Yukon regulators to keep relationships steady through the disruption of COVID-19 and beyond. The sustainability landscape has shifted post COVID.  I'll share a few of those examples, what worked, what I'd approach differently, and what it took to keep trust intact when the usual ways of connecting weren't available.

 My hope is that a few of these reflections are useful to others navigating similar relationships and challenges — none of this works without the people and partners on the other side of the table.
