This session provides a foundational overview of the Yukon Human Rights Act and its protections. Participants will learn to identify the specific “protected grounds” and the social areas where the Act provides protections, discriminatory harassment, and the legal test used to determine if discrimination has occurred. The session will also provide information on defenses to discrimination (such a bona fide occupational requirements and affirmative action programs), the duty to accommodate, and employer’s responsibilities under the Act.
